Hot Industry News: Creatively Titled Wifi Networks Replace Passive Aggressive Post-It Notes

Have you ever giggled at a creatively named wifi network? They’re becoming quite the trend, according to CNET. You won’t see any Belkins or Netgears around here, either – we’ve got a “Petra”, a “PWireless”, “warehouse”, and even “FBI Surveillance Van” (don’t ask). Increasingly, people are using them to pass along messages – everything from “Stop slamming the door!” to “Please stop that barking dog!”

It’s not quite anonymous if you live in a small town, but in places like downtown OKC, you might pick up as many as 10-15 wireless networks at once. Folks are even starting to get political with it, with wifi networks popping up in support – or against – the owner’s chosen political candidate.
Pretty interesting stuff… I might go home and change my network’s name, myself!
