Google Wallet is adding a new feature to allow users to save offers found online to their wallet and redeem them during checkout at brick & mortar stores.
The "Save to Wallet" feature aims to bridge the gap between the web and stores. Merchants will be able to post the "Add to Wallet" button on their site by pasting in a simple snippet of JavaScript code in their admin. Users will then be able to add and save offers to their mobile app.
Depending on how the physical store's checkout is set up, Google Wallet users will be able to redeem their offer by showing it to the clerk, scanning the discount off their screen at a POS station, or by tapping their phone at a NFC terminal at checkout.
While only five NFC-enabled phones offer Google Wallet's tap-to-pay functionality, an app is available for non-NFC phones to utilize the system. Do you use Google Wallet in your location?
